There is usually one awkward slot on a motherboard: the M.2 position tucked directly beneath the graphics card, with no cover over it and no air moving across it. A drive that draws a lot of power has a hard time there. What It Pairs With
A board whose only free M.2 slot is the awkward one, or a small case with very little air movement to begin with. It suits a mini-ITX build, where every position is a compromise, and equally a compact machine or a board with no M.2 covers at all. As the boot drive it holds Windows, your software and a few large games without complaint, and in a UAE summer the lower heat output is not a theoretical benefit.
Who This Isn’t For
A machine keeping twenty games installed. One terabyte goes quickly, and this is a drive bought for where it sits rather than for how much it holds. It is also not built around sustained heavy writing — long video exports, large archives written back to back — where a big write cache and raw throughput are what carry the job. Common Questions
Does running cool actually matter?
It does for two reasons. Heat is one of the things that shortens flash life, and more immediately, a drive that stays cool holds its speed through a long copy instead of stepping down partway to protect itself.
Do I still need a heatsink for it?
Not usually. If the board provides a cover, fit it — but this drive is chosen precisely for the positions where no cover is available and nothing can be added.
Which M.2 slot should it go in?
Whichever is free. Send us the motherboard model and we will tell you which slots share bandwidth with SATA ports or PCIe lanes, because filling the wrong one can quietly switch something else off.
